Buffalo Nickel Pendant

Also known as the Indian Head Nickel, this coin was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser, and was minted from 1913 to 1938. Fraser chose iconic symbols of the American frontier — a Native American profile on the front and an American bison on the back, to reflect the country’s heritage. Despite attempts by the Mint to adjust the design, the coins were subject to wear, as the dates were easily worn away while in circulation.
